Be an Oak Protector
Thanks to several environmental groups’ years long effort, the Redding City Council is now on board to strengthen the Tree Ordinance. In their August 2 meeting, the City Council voted to form a Tree Ordinance Committee to get community input. The new Committee will have 2 or 3 public meetings where residents will have an opportunity to comment in person. Discussion is expected regarding setting mitigation fees. Finding a balance that will protect mature oaks and be accepted by the community, is the goal.
Emails to the City Council members will again be helpful when the draft ordinance is presented to the Council. Look for updates on the NSCA and the Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA) websites and Facebook pages.
